With reference to the previous correspondence on

the subject, I forward herewith a plan showing the land which the War Department desires to acquire in perpetual user, for the construction and protection of a battery on Mount Davis.

The road outside the boundary fence will, it is understood, be taken over on completion by the Colonial Government and maintained by them.

Will you kindly inform me what is the proposed price of the land, which will be paid for by a credit to the Colonial Government against the balance now due to War Department on Colonial Military Lands Account. The area is about 24 acres.

I have etc., (Sd.) C. H. Darling,

Colonel,

Chief Engineer, South China

Command.

The Honourable

Colonial Secretary,

Hongkong.
